Misery Index – Discordia
» 4 out of 5 Evil Faces
Okay, I am back! It has been awhile since anything has been posted around here, but hey, it’s been awhile since I bought any CD’s.
No, really I have just been real busy as of late, work, life and all that good stuff that slows down the fun I have around here.
Anyway on with a review as I doubt many of you care what my life is like.
This time around it is Misery Index.
They released a new CD via Relapse Records a few months ago entitled Discordia. As usual I am late with my review, but as they say better late than never.
Even though this band has been around for awhile and have released a few CD’s I have not had the pleasure of listening to them as much as other bands.
As a long time fan of Dying Fetus, I bought Misery Index’s first release Overthrow a few years ago when it came out, but did not get into it all that much. If memory serves me correctly, it was a rather short demo CD. So there was not alot to listen to. It was cool, just nothing too memorable.
There you have the reason I have not heard their other CD’s
I never bought them, nor did I buy this one. A friend bought it (and was suppossed to write this review but keeps saying “I am no writer”.
Well, neither am I
Maybe it is just to hardcore(ish) for me, but this is not my favorite band. They are not bad, just not my favorite.
It seeems a bit monotonous. They play hard and fast, it is catchy or whatever you call it when dealing with this style of music, but it is nothing groundbreaking. Really just more of the same.
Dying Fetus with some subtle differences.
It’s like listening to a metal machine play music, which may speak volumes to the various members ability to play in time with each other but does not do it for me as a CD to sit around and listen to.
Like I say this is not a bad CD. Though it is not one I see myself listening to over and over again as I tend to do with CD’s I really like. If you are fan of Dying Fetus, and Misery Index’s previous releases I am sure this one will not let you down.
