Job For A Cowboy - Genesis

Okay CD review time again. I had not heard of Job For A Cowboy until recently. I liked what I heard in the brief listen I got, so being the trooper I am, I went out and got my own copy of Genesis.

JFAC hails from Glendale, Arizona. They play a mix of death metal, metalcore and hardcore. It ain’t bad. In fact, I would say it is real good. It is in the vein of bands such as Dying Fetus, All Shall Perish and Hate Eternal amongst others.

So as you see this is nothing new. JFAC are not paving a way into some new cosmic style of metal. They just play brutal death metal, pure and simple. They change speeds, have great riffs, the vocals are cool and the drums help pound out the anger. This is a brutal CD.

Not sure why I had never heard of them. I might have seen the name mentioned while searching the net, but not given them a second look. You have to admit the band name does not sound like your traditional death metal band. In fact, it does not sound metal to me at all.

Though rest assured JFAC is metal. One listen is all you need, that’s all it took for me to go buy a copy anyway. I sent a friend a link to their MySpace page last night and he said, “The music you listen to, is too much for me.”

I guess that is a glowing review. If in fact you like extreme music. Sometimes I forget that people have never heard metal such as this style. So if you like technical death metal with a hardcore edge than be sure to check out Job For A Cowboy. :)
