Incantation - Primordial Domination

Okay, again it is time for me to share my opinion of a new metal CD with the loyal readers of my little site here. If there are any that is. :P

This time it is for another well established band that really needs no introduction or a review from some fan like me. ;) Incantation.

They released a new CD “Primordial Domination” like a month ago, and as usual I am late getting my copy and even later publishing this review. So without further ado…

This is the 8th Incantation CD I have purchased in my life.

Let me just say that I am glad I purchased each and everyone of them. Except for the one I got directly from Relapse. It came with a huge scratch on it.

For a number of years I ignored this band, or at least I ignored buying their CDs. Thinking they we’re boring or typical, I decided that I hear enough of them on the radio or they are popular enough that the CDs will be available for years to come. Then one day it hit me. This band kicks some serious ass and is one of the best Death metal bands to come out.

Ever!

The new release Primordial Domination is no exception to the rule. Nine pounding tracks with some of the darkest, doomy death metal riffs ever can be heard when listening to this CD. It sounds pretty much just as one would expect Incantation to sound.

The recording quality is great, not as rough/raw as some of the earlier releases. You can hear all the instruments equally and the vocals are mixed in well also.

This one does not seem as doomy as say “Diabolical Conquest” did, but it still has some slow parts mixed in with the crushing blast beats, demonic vocals and so on…

As with all bands this popular, there is no reason for me to try and sell you on them. You already know what they sound like. They have released 7 full lengths, a couple of EPs, some live recordings as well as there demos and 7″s.

If you like them, you already know it!

All I can do is assure you that the new CD is as good or better than all of their past efforts. They have not lost any of the pure heaviness that we have all grown to expect from this band.
