Despised Icon - The Ills Of Modern Man

Canadian grinders Despised Icon are back with a brand new release entitled The Ills Of Modern Man released by Century Media.

I first found this band on Headbanger’s Ball (which I have seen 2 times in the last 20 years) on MTV of all places. I think it was the only band/video they played that night that was even remotely close the style(s) of metal that I find myself listening to with any regularity.

I am a huge fan of DI’s first CD Consumed By Your Poison. What a grind masterpiece. It has a definite hardcore influence but all in all was a great death/grind release with tempo changes, awesome riffs, lightning fast picking and an angry sound unlike I had heard in awhile.

Their second release The Healing Process is also an awesome album but was not the same as the original, it seemed more hardcore, less death metal.

Though let me assure you The Ills Of Modern Man is a great 3rd release for Despised icon. It has all the same great stuff from CBYP. The shear brutality, the technicality, the tempo changes, the hardcore, the death, the grind, the patented dual vocal assault. What else can you ask for? Well they keep it going for approximately 40 minutes. :)
If you like death, grind, hardcore metal and have never heard DI, or if on the other hand you are familiar with them and liked the first 2 releases be sure to check this one out as well. You will not be disappointed.
