» 5 out of 5 Evil Faces
I had first heard of Daath I do believe around the time of their second albums release “The Hinderers”. I figured I would give them a shot considering all the positive reviews regarding the band and said album. I don’t know why but at the time I was not impressed. Maybe it was a simple matter of me not being in the head space to understand and enjoy what Daath had to offer at the time. Or maybe it had something to do with me confusing this bands name with the infamous “Death” of Chuck Schuldiner fame and expecting something out of this band (with it’s own identity) that they were not going to be giving me. Whatever the case.
Two albums later, I GET IT!
Daath’s self titled fourth album is without a doubt one of the highlights of 2010. This album is so “grab you by the balls” thrashy, I had to go BACK into their catalog and see what I missed. The guitar duo of Levi/Werstler are the main attractors here. The solos these guys are coming up with are strange, other worldly sounding and refreshing, especially for the listener who, how can you say it? Has heard it all already.
Stand out tracks (as far as I’m concerned) are:
- #2 Destruction/Restoration
- #3 Indestructible Overdose
- #4 Double Tap Suicide
- #5 The Decider
- #6 Exit Plan
- #12 N.A.T.G.O.D
I Know this review is a little late considering the album was released back in October of 2010 but I figured I better pop my cherry with this one considering the damn thing hasn’t come out of any of my playlist since.
