» 3 out of 5 Evil Faces

Okay ladies and gentlemen. It’s time for another CD review.
Again this band needs no introduction. I am sure you have heard of them. I am also sure that you already have an opinion of this band.
You either love, hate of just kinda tolerate them.
Cradle Of Filth
Well folks, Thornography is not going to make the haters love. Though it might make the lovers hate and those that tolerate, riot.
Cradle has been around for a long time and have released alot of CDs over the years. You are bound to have purchased at least one of them. Maybe you even got one of the ones they put out back when they we’re a black metal band.
I can honestly say that most of Cradle’s CDs have been good. I like them. As long as I don’t watch the music videos and see the costumes I am cool.
Thornography on the other hand leaves me with my mouth open wondering what has happenned. This release is way more gothic than their earlier ones in some aspects and pretty much the same in others. In fact, most of the CD seems to be cool, but there are a few songs that are far different than what one might expect to hear from this band.
Let’s face it. A few of the songs just completely suck! There is no getting around it. They would have been better released on the Breakfast Club soundtrack CD than on this one.
You put on the CD and everything seems cool. Your jamming. You think hey this sounds pretty typical of this band. Then all the sudden you are greeted with various vocal styles that are…well, lets just say not metal in the slightest.
So if you are a fan of gothic metal and or like this side of COF, this might be a good CD for you. If you are a black metal fan and liked the more aggressive side of this band you might want to steer clear of Thornography.
