Q: Where is The Red Chord from?
A: Boston, MA

Q: How long has The Red Chord been together?
A: About 6 years.

Q: How many members are in The Red Chord? Names? Instruments?
A: Normally there are 5, but we’re in the midst of trying out drummers. The lineup is:

  • Guy Kozowyk – vocals
  • Gunface – guitar/vocals
  • Greg Weeks – bass
  • Jonny Fay – guitar.

Q: What is the age range of the band members?
A: 22-28

Q: What (if any) is the message behind The Red Chord’s lyrics?
A: Don’t eat sandpaper.

Q: Who are your biggest influences?
A: Immolation, Cynic, Earth Crisis, Buried Alive, Suffocation, Crowbar, Death, Pestilence, etc.

Q: What is some of your favorite art, books (please include authors), & movies, if any?
A: I’m really into Bret Easton Ellis and H.P. Lovecraft, but I’ll read anything. The Big Lebowski is the best movie ever.

Q: When will The Red Chord be touring? Is there a American/European tour planned?
A: We are currently on tour in the US with Throwdown, The Black Dahlia Murder and The Agony Scene.

Q: In general, what has The Red Chord been up to lately?
A: Break dancing. :P

Q: How do you categorize The Red Chord’s sound when people say “What kind of music is it” Death, Black, Metal, What?
A: Well it’s a fusion of death metal, hardcore and grind. I just say metal.

Q: Any The Red Chord members from other bands, or currently working on other projects?
A: Greg is working on an acoustic folk record right now, Jon has a melodic thrashy metal side project and I have a few different things happening, but my main side project is a funeral doom band called, Stomach Earth.

Q: Any plans for the next CD yet, or are you still working on supporting the current release?
A: We’re touring on Clients now, but we’ll be writing for the next record soon.

Q: Besides The Red Chord, what are the various band members into when not, touring, rehearsing, recording music?
A: Guy has a record label called Blackmarket Activities, Jon runs Backyard Studios in New Hampshire and I am pursuing a career in voice over work.

Q: What is your opinion on the current state of the world? (terror, the war in Iraq, and so on…)
A: Let’s jump in a wormhole.
