Q: Where is Depresy from?
A: Our band is from Trencin, located in western Slovakia.
Q: How long has Depresy been together?
A: Since 1991. The core of the band is together since 1993.
Q: How many members are in Depresy?
A: At the moment we are 5. At most of gigs we are 6, coz we have session keyboard player, she is from Essence of Existence, it is band from the same town as we are. I also participated in their previous album.
Q. What is the age range of the band members?
A: From 26 to 32.
Q. What (if any) is the message behind Depresy’s lyrics?
A: Well, it is quite difficult to describe as complex stuff as our lyrics are, but one advise for everybody who didn’t read it! Or I can write a few profaned words like darkness, mysticism, melancholy, deep space, microcosmos and macrocosmos, our psyche, sham of day, whatever.
Q. Who are your biggest influences?
A: It is hard to mention all influences, it comes all the time, some of them are like tall lighthouses, and they show the way to our thoughts, And at the end you remember only the most important, the brightest and the tallest ones, Each one is tied to certain temporal event, so logically their light is very various in our lifetime.
Q. What is some of your favorite art, books (please include authors), & movies, if any?
A: Everyone of the band is deep in own sort of art, it doesn’t matter which one it is, we love beautiful things in all reflections of space-time. Of course, each member has his own definition of “beautiful’. And, I hope you’ll understand, it is not fair to point out only a few artists.
Q. When will Depresy be touring? Is there a US tour planned?
A: It seems to me like we are still on tour J, but we decided to interrupt our gigs, coz our bass player (Gabriel) went to England for half a year. And U. S. tour, hmmm, haha, we don’t have so much money to get there and of course all of us have jobs, and you understand, we cannot travel abroad for longer period, we have vacations only couple of days. You can go away for longer period, but only once per one job J and it is not smart to be unemployed when you have a family.
Q. In general, what has Depresy been up to lately?
A: We were drinking coz of Gabriel departure, lol, well, really, we are trying to make some new stuff, three songs are accomplished.
Q. How do you categorize Depresy’s sound when people say “What kind of music is it” Death, Black, Metal, What?
A: Echoes of cosmic storm, yeah it is a good name! J
Q. Any Depresy members from other bands, or currently working on other projects?
A: There are no other projects within Depresy untill these days.
Q. Any plans for the next CD yet, or are you still working on supporting the current release?
A: As I mentioned above, we would like to collect whole energy in the band and unleash another cosmic storm. But the release date is floating somewhere behind the horizon.
Q. Besides Depresy what are the various band members into when not, touring, rehearsing, recording music?
A: We are trying to survive our lives the best. It depends on rate of work and spare time. Mostly we have a lot of work.
Q. What is your opinion on the current state of the world? (terror, the war in Iraq, and so on…)
A: Depresy is a shelter against real world. That’s it.
