Q: Where is Coffins from?
A: Coffins is from Tokyo, Japan.
Q: How long has Coffins been together?
A: We started in 1996. The present member started from this year.
Q: How did Coffins get started?
A: Coffins wasn’t working actively at the beginning of a start. So, I and YOU were played in other band. But, we resigned the other band and put Coffins
into operation again in 2003.
Q: How many members are in Coffins? Names? Instruments?
A: 3
- UCHINO - Guitars/Vocal
- YOU - Drums
- KOREEDA - Bass/Backing vocal.
Q: What is the age range of the band members?
A: Age 28 - 35.
Q: What (if any) is the message behind Coffins’s lyrics?
A: Our lyrics doesn’t have message. I think that the people currently heard should take something in from them.
Q: How many releases do you all have?
A: We have 1 full album, 1 demo re-master album and 1 split 10′ ep. We release 2nd albums in this summer.
Q: Who are your biggest influences?
A: WINTER, DIVINE EVE, HELLHAMMER/CELTIC FROST, AUTOPSY and BOLT THROWER. But, We are influenced from other many old school Hardcore/Thrash/Death/Doom metal.
Q: Of the various tours and shows you have played, what is the most memorable, and why?
A: All shows became good recollections and I remain in my heart. Because, I forget disagreeable recollections immediately.
Q: What is some of your favorite art, books (please include authors), & movies, if any?
A: I cannot finish writing here because I have many those influence….
Q: When will Coffins be touring? Is there a American European Japanese tour planned?
A: From now on, we will have Japan tour and some shows. But now though regrettable, we don’t have the overseas tour schedule.
Q: In general, what has Coffins been up to lately?
A: We are doing work for the next album. We are scheduling the recording late for May.
Q: How do you categorize Coffins’s sound when people say “What kind of music is it” Death, Doom, Black, Metal, What?
A: The people which heard our stuffs should also judge it.
Q: Any Coffins members from other bands, or currently working on other projects?
A: I have solo project called “Fleshpile” like Swans, Scorn and Godflesh.
Koreeda is played in his own old school chaotic power violence band called
“Trikorona”.
Q: Any plans for the next CD yet, or are you still working on supporting the current release?
A: Our next album will turn into the album with very strong oldschool doomdeath metal color. We already gained deal after 3rd. It’s not known what kind of album they still become. But, it’s clear to become oldschool contents.
Q: Besides Coffins, what are the various band members into when not, touring, rehearsing, recording music?
A: We are always working!!!!!!!!!
Q: What is your opinion on the current state of the world? (terror, the war in Iraq, and so on…)
A: I don’t have nothing to talk about them and don’t want to talk…
