It is once again time for me to give my opinion of a metal CD. This time I am going to review a new CD from an old band. So first a brief history lesson…
Divine Eve hailed from Plano (Dallas) Texas. They we’re formed back in the early 90′s by 2 members of Catharsis. They signed with Nuclear Blast records back in 1993 and released 1 EP, As The Angels Weep. They did a song for a Celtic Frost tribute CD released by Dwell records. There was supposed to be a CD (Essence of Dawn) released through Candlelight/Gothic Records, but it never happened, so the band released it themselves on cassette. A track from the EOD promo appeared on the Nuclear Blast Comp (Death… Is just the Beginning III). They did some brief touring in 1994 and then disbanded in 1995.

Okay, here is a band that hails from right down the road from me. Well, maybe a little farther, but compared to all the other bands that I listen too this one is rather close.
This is not a new band. They have been around for 20 years now. Though there was a hiatus for the last 7 or so.
Solitude Aeturnus hailing from none other than Arlington, Texas. formed back in 1987 and unleashed their somber doom metal songs onto the world, or at least North Texas.
Anyway, I remember seeing Solitude Aeturnus play at a local club back in the late 80′s or maybe early 90′s. At least I think it was them. I was young, dumb and full of… alcohol.
So I could be mistaken. Admittedly this was not my favorite band growing up. As previously mentioned they are rather somber and doomy. When I was young I was into only fast speed and death metal.

Okay ladies and gentlemen. It is once again time for another review. This time we are going to head east, to the far east in fact as this is a band from the other side of the Earth. (for me anyway)
Japanese doom metal masters Coffins are back with their slow, sludgy style of doom/death metal.
The Other Side Of Blasphemy has definite similarities with Celtic Frost and Winter, but is also unique in it’s own special way. The riffs are slightly repetitive and go slower then molasses but there are some up tempo parts that combine to make The Other Side Of Blasphemy a must have CD for any fan of doom metal.
