behemoth-evangelion album cover

Okay it’s time for another review! This one’s for another band that I’ve heard about over the years, yet never really listened to. Until now that is! :)

Behemoth are back with their 9th full length release. This one was released by Metal Blade, has 9 tracks and is entitled Evangelion. It’s quite a masterpiece (Or well it’s good anyway) of technical death metal with some black metal undertones. ;) You know what? I should have been listening to them, long before now! :D

Nothing to inventive or anything. It’s been done before but they’re definitely doing it the right way. It reminds me a bit of a cross between Zyklon and Hate Eternal.

Job For A Cowboy - Genesis

Okay CD review time again. I had not heard of Job For A Cowboy until recently. I liked what I heard in the brief listen I got, so being the trooper I am, I went out and got my own copy of Genesis.

JFAC hails from Glendale, Arizona. They play a mix of death metal, metalcore and hardcore. It ain’t bad. In fact, I would say it is real good. It is in the vein of bands such as Dying Fetus, All Shall Perish and Hate Eternal amongst others.

Chimaira-Resurrection

Again we embark on yet another in a long line of heavy metal CD reviews. I am doing here at Metalpedia. This time it is for a band that I have never really heard before but I gather they are at least somewhat popular.

It is Cleveland’s Chimaira. They have released a new CD entitled Resurrection. It is available on Ferret Music

I am going to say right off the bat that this is not my style of metal. So maybe I have missed an entire genre that sounds like/similar to Chimaira.

I am not saying Chimaira is a bad band it is just not my style of metal. They have a real tight sound, that has some cool stuff going on. It is just the general rhythm they keep returning to that spoils it.

Napalm Death - Smear Campaign

Okay, maybe this review is out of date. Not sure when this was actually released but I just got ahold of a copy recently. Well like a month ago, but never reviewed it.

Plus I figure it is already the 11th day of the new year and I might as well get around to adding more content. ;)

I have a few reviews and a couple of interviews scheduled for this month so be sure to check back over the next week for additional stuff.

Anyway, enough with the formalities and on with the topic at hand. Napalm Death needs no introduction but they have released a new CD entitled Smear Campaign that might.

Amon Amarth – With Oden On Our Side

Amon Amarth - With Oden On Our Side

So, from what I gather Amon Amarth is a very popular band. Unfortunately, I have never really listened to them.

I remember hearing one of their CDs a few years back, but it seems that I did not like them much at the time. Or at least that is how I remember it anyway. So I kinda put them on a back burner until I forgot about them. Oops.

I have heard their name mentioned from time to time, but always thought, “Oh yeah, I do not like them“. Though with the addition of this site into my life. I have to forget some of those old memories and habits, and just listen to anything that falls into the metal genre.

I am glad I bit the bullet on this one, because for whatever reason, they sound pretty good to me now.
