Once again time for another CD review. This time we’ll get right to it. The band? Italy’s Fleshgod Apocalypse. The title of the disc? Agony. The music on the disc? Bad Ass!!! That is if you like non stop full speed death metal with what sounds like old movie music soundtracks playing in the background. 
Of course it isn’t old movie music. It’s keyboards, which is what gives this band it’s distinctive sound.

Okay, once again it’s time for another impromptu CD review that’s probably a few weeks too late for anyone to care, and once again it’s a band that needs no introduction. Morbid Angel!!!!!! I’ve been looking forward to hearing this for awhile now. In less I missed a release (and forgot the alphabet) this is the first one in a few years (almost 10)
Usually I have a hard time figuring out what I’m gonna say when I write a review of what a CD sounds like. Especially when it’s a band that has released so many previous CDs. Okay boys and girls. Time for my first CD review in quite sometime. Actually not as long as the site indicates, but do to technical issues I lost a few reviews. 
Anyway onto this review. This time around it’s the latest offering from Hate Eternal released on Metal Blade. The title is Phoenix Amongst The Ashes which I think is a pretty cool name, (not sure of they mean the city or the bird, but I will assume they meant the bird as it just makes more sense) but does the music live up to it you ask? I had first heard of Daath I do believe around the time of their second albums release “The Hinderers”. I figured I would give them a shot considering all the positive reviews regarding the band and said album. I don’t know why but at the time I was not impressed. Maybe it was a simple matter of me not being in the head space to understand and enjoy what Daath had to offer at the time. Or maybe it had something to do with me confusing this bands name with the infamous “Death” of Chuck Schuldiner fame and expecting something out of this band (with it’s own identity) that they were not going to be giving me. It is once again time for me to give my opinion of a metal CD. This time I am going to review a new CD from an old band. So first a brief history lesson…
Divine Eve hailed from Plano (Dallas) Texas. They we’re formed back in the early 90′s by 2 members of Catharsis. They signed with Nuclear Blast records back in 1993 and released 1 EP, As The Angels Weep. They did a song for a Celtic Frost tribute CD released by Dwell records. There was supposed to be a CD (Essence of Dawn) released through Candlelight/Gothic Records, but it never happened, so the band released it themselves on cassette. A track from the EOD promo appeared on the Nuclear Blast Comp (Death… Is just the Beginning III). They did some brief touring in 1994 and then disbanded in 1995.

The viking metal masters Ensiferum return with their newest effort. This one is called Victory Songs and I suppose that’s accurate as this release is another victory.
Ensiferum just keeps on going. Each release as good or better than the last. I doubt they will ever top Iron as that is a total masterpiece IMO. Though each CD seems to have that certain melodic warrior style that I like so much about this band.

The self styled Rocky Mountain Hydro Grinders Cephalic Carnage return with a brand new CD entitled Xenosapien.
I first found this band when they released their second CD, Exploiting Dysfunction. In fact this was the first CD I purchased that was released after the 1900′s. Seems weird to say that now, but at the time it was kinda a big deal to me.

Canadian grinders Despised Icon are back with a brand new release entitled The Ills Of Modern Man released by Century Media.
I first found this band on Headbanger’s Ball (which I have seen 2 times in the last 20 years) on MTV of all places. I think it was the only band/video they played that night that was even remotely close the style(s) of metal that I find myself listening to with any regularity.

Okay review time again. I had not heard of Job For A Cowboy until recently. I liked what I heard in the brief listen I got, so being the trooper I am, I went out and got my own copy of Genesis.
JFAC hails from Glendale, Arizona. They play a mix of death metal, metalcore and hardcore. It ain’t bad. In fact, I would say it is real good. It is in the vein of bands such as Dying Fetus, All Shall Perish and Hate Eternal amongst others.
